Thought this was cool!! It’s an artist’s rendition of a neutron star surrounded by a disk of hot gas. The gas closer to the center actually rapidly rotates around the neutron star at 40% the speed of light, experiencing effects predicted by Einstein’s theories of relativity. Neutron stars are so awesome because they are some of the most dense stars that exist in our universe. The theory of black holes states that the center of a black hole was once a neutron star that continuously collects more energy and matter as the black hole expands and nearby objects fall in. Pressure increases (as size decreases-imagine a ball being compressed) as the neutron star collects more matter, hence creating an infinitely increasing smaller and denser star.
